The votes for Ivy's choice in Episode 2 are in and cereal is the official winner! This one is just the storyboards. Originally, it was planned to be longer (and animated) but since it looks like we won't have funding to continue the series we wanted to at least show what we were able to get done. Hope you enjoy!

First off, a big thank you to everyone who's backed the Kickstarter so far, we really appreciate your support! Unfortunately, it looks like we won't make our goal so we won't be able to afford to continue the series.
We want to go out on a happy note so rather than just end it, we're publishing the rest of what we have done so far, complete with voting. Episode 2 just went up on TikTok and YouTube. You can use the comments on TikTok or YouTube to vote for which choice Ivy makes. Voting will be open until 7 pm central time on Monday, Nov. 1st and the winning choice will be published by 9 pm that same day. I hope you'll take a moment to vote and enjoy. If you would like to make a last minute contribution to the Kickstarter, here's the link http://kck.st/3iz9H7L While this may be the end of PlotQuest (at least for the time being) this is not the end of Popcorn Sundae. We're going to be taking some time off to focus on personal projects for a while but we definitely plan to continue working together. Follow us on Tiktok, Twitter, and/ or Instagram and you'll be the first to see our new projects when they launch. Thanks again for joining us on this crazy journey! The Kickstarter has officially launched! We've got some cool digital rewards planned including an exclusive backers-only episode, "Doggo's Fate", featuring pixel art by the one and only Balmsold. As you probably guessed, backers will get to decide the outcome of Doggo's second fight with Killjoy Kaiju. Did Ivy's enchantment make the difference or is it the big game over this time? We also have some physical rewards as part of our stretch goals which can be unlocked simply by helping us spread the word about the campaign.
Of course, we're all about interactivity so during the campaign we'll be running the interactive murder mystery, "A Killer Deal" in the updates section. Backers at any level will be able to vote and Tommy Benoist will be writing and illustrating the story in real time with new chapters published on Mondays and Fridays. You can find out all the details at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/popcornsundae/plotquest-an-interactive-animated-web-series the pitch video is also available on YouTube. We hope you'll check it out and consider supporting us as we make a brand new type of animated series. Hey there!
Sorry it's been so long since we last published an update. 2021 has been an unbelievably busy year for us both personally and professionally. We had the chance to design characters for a Castlevania-style opening animation for an upcoming feature film. We're also in pre-production on a series of animated explainer videos for some exciting research underway at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. Last but not least, Neko spent the summer working at Augenblick Studios as a character layout artist on Teenage Euthanasia which just premiered on Adult Swim. In the midst of all the busy-ness, we've managed to keep moving forward on PlotQuest. A few weeks ago, we posted some clips from episode 1 on TikTok just to see what would happen. To our surprise and delight people really liked them! After only three weeks of posts we have over 700 followers, 11,000 likes, and our videos have been viewed more than 90,000 times. It looks like we may have found our audience! If you'd like to join in on the madness, we're @popcorn.sundae. Knowing people are enjoying what we've made definitely makes us want to keep producing new episodes and get the interactive features going asap. It also shows us we need to produce things as quickly as possible. Sadly, animators still can't survive off of likes and views so I guess we'll need to find a way to pay our team. We've doubled down on our efforts to make the best Kickstarter campaign possible which we'll be launching this Tuesday, Oct. 5th. Here's the link in case you want to check it out https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/popcornsundae/plotquest-an-interactive-animated-web-series Thank you for sticking with us on this long, crazy journey. Looking forward to whatever new challenges and adventures that lie ahead! Well, 2020 is almost over! I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say this year has been an unmitigated dumpster fire train wreck that gives new meaning to the word “cluster” on a global scale. But it has also seen some good things for our fledgling studio. We completed and premiered episode 1 of PlotQuest, as well as two motion comic side-stories. We’re also under contract to produce some work for a feature film… but we can’t say much more than that right now, sorry! We’re wrapping production on an animated pitch video for our upcoming Kickstarter campaign too.
So what’s happening with PlotQuest? One thing we’ve learned is that PlotQuest requires a strange balance of quality and speed, particularly once we start getting the interactive element involved. No one wants to wait a year to find out if the choice they voted for will happen, right? But we don’t think anyone wants to see the quality of the art or animation dumbed down just to speed up production either. This idea is simply too ambitious for four or five animators working in their spare time to produce. That’s where the Kickstarter comes in! With a little bit of funding, we can spend less time on contract work and more time on PlotQuest, plus we can hire more animators, thus speeding production exponentially. We realize 2020 has been rough for everyone so we’re not rushing to ask for money. At this point, we’re focusing on making a great pitch with some exciting rewards. We’ll keep you posted as things develop with that as well as our other projects so stay tuned! For now, let’s just raise a glass to the end of this sewer backup that catches on fire for no reason and suddenly spawns flaming murder hornets (a.k.a. 2020). Wishing you a safe, happy, and prosperous 2021! ... it's just time for another PlotQuest motion comic! Motion Comic 2 will be premiering this Thursday, September 24th at 7:15 p.m. Central time on YouTube. youtu.be/zdAb93unFTw Hope you’ll stop by and check it out!
Learn how our intrepid NPC Item Vendors first met in this motion comic-style side-story from the world of PlotQuest. Like Ivy said, we’re still here and busy planning for more episodes but we don’t wanna keep you waiting too long so in the meantime we’ve put together a couple motion comics based on Taylor’s PlotQuest webcomics. They’re not full episodes, more like side-stories featuring some of our characters but they should be pretty fun nonetheless. The first one premieres next Thursday at 7 pm Central. Hope you’ll check it out! ^_^
A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to check out the episode 1 premiere last night! We had over 300 views within the first hour! We were totally overwhelmed by the response and definitely plan on making more episodes. We've got a fair amount of work to do figuring out next steps but we'll keep you posted. Stay tuned! ^_^
The wait is over! PlotQuest Episode 1 premieres tonight at 7pm central. Chat with the production team and watch it live at https://youtu.be/vcWMhUVhuvI. We'll be on starting around 6:45. Hope to see you then!
