Well, 2020 is almost over! I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say this year has been an unmitigated dumpster fire train wreck that gives new meaning to the word “cluster” on a global scale. But it has also seen some good things for our fledgling studio. We completed and premiered episode 1 of PlotQuest, as well as two motion comic side-stories. We’re also under contract to produce some work for a feature film… but we can’t say much more than that right now, sorry! We’re wrapping production on an animated pitch video for our upcoming Kickstarter campaign too.
So what’s happening with PlotQuest? One thing we’ve learned is that PlotQuest requires a strange balance of quality and speed, particularly once we start getting the interactive element involved. No one wants to wait a year to find out if the choice they voted for will happen, right? But we don’t think anyone wants to see the quality of the art or animation dumbed down just to speed up production either. This idea is simply too ambitious for four or five animators working in their spare time to produce. That’s where the Kickstarter comes in! With a little bit of funding, we can spend less time on contract work and more time on PlotQuest, plus we can hire more animators, thus speeding production exponentially. We realize 2020 has been rough for everyone so we’re not rushing to ask for money. At this point, we’re focusing on making a great pitch with some exciting rewards. We’ll keep you posted as things develop with that as well as our other projects so stay tuned! For now, let’s just raise a glass to the end of this sewer backup that catches on fire for no reason and suddenly spawns flaming murder hornets (a.k.a. 2020). Wishing you a safe, happy, and prosperous 2021!
